IT BEARS Program
The IT BEARS program offers students real-world, hands-on experience by managing our campus technology help desk. Through DELL Client Foundations training, students earn industry-recognized certification, equipping them to diagnose and repair devices, create support tickets in TechDirect, and coordinate computer or part shipments with Dell.

Student technicians provide in-class support, assisting peers who visit the help desk during class to troubleshoot and resolve tech issues. In addition, our mobile support service allows students to submit tickets remotely—student techs then pick up the device, repair it, and return it, all within the class period.

This year, student technicians are extending their support beyond the high school campus, assisting with technology needs at our elementary schools during class time—gaining valuable real-world experience while making a difference in our district.

Skills Learned

  • Communication Skills: Students will effectively interact with teachers and students in the tech support environment.
  • Computer Maintenance: Students will learn to diagnose and fix common software issues. Also, be able to identify and resolve hardware malfunctions.
  • Leadership Skills: Students will lead and manage the student-led tech room.
  • Critical Thinking: Students will analyze and troubleshoot issues logically and efficiently. Students will develop creative solutions to resolve technical challenges.

Entry-Level Careers:

With the skills and knowledge gained from this program, graduates may pursue entry-level positions such as:

  • IT Support Specialist-Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues 
  • IT Technician-Install and configure computers, networks, and related equipment
  • Field Service Technician-Provide on-site support for clients by repairing, installing, or upgrading
    IT equipment.
