Career and Technical education in White Settlement ISD is embracing the challenge of change for the 21st Century in preparing students for meeting the demands of a more technological society. Career and Technical Education is growing to provide unique educational options for enhancing the knowledge and skills required for employment in our economy. A highly educated workforce is the key to a successful life experience and economic prosperity. Technically skilled and highly educated individuals are needed at all levels, and they must have the capacity for lifelong learning that is demanded by business and industry. In order for White Settlement ISD to be successful in educating the workforce of the future, a unified vision of education and business/industry for a prosperous, thriving and competitive state must be forged.
Mission of WSISD Career and Technical Education
The Career and Technical Education Department of White Settlement ISD is committed to empowering our students with the skills necessary to manage the dual roles of family member and wage earner, and to enable them to gain meaningful and relevant employment in high-skilled, high-wage jobs and/or to continue their education at a post-secondary institution.
We Believe:
- Rigorous academic and technical curricula supports seamless career pathways.
- Career exploration and knowledge must begin in elementary school and continue through high school.
- Partnerships with business and industry, post-secondary institutions, the community, and parents will benefit students and their learning environment.
- Instructional objectives should be innovative and appropriate to utilize current technology and state-of-the-art facilities.
- Quality programs embrace an attitude of continuous improvement by keeping all stakeholders abreast of current trends in business and industry.
- Students should engage in relevant, real world experiences to enhance their future successes.
- CTE educators must demonstrate knowledge of current curriculum, participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and learning, and work closely with all programs of study to give relevance to education as a whole.
